hello ele jou

2.19.2011

starting somewhere is almost as hard as starting nowhere.
but Mazatlan IS surely somewhere and i am surely here.

first hurdle: swallowing the word BLOG has been impossible for me
and has kept me from having any kind of regular electronic post.
perhaps this makes me an aesthete? or just a person ridiculously
sensitive to the slings and arrows and language. i simply cannot embark
upon a path that makes me think of gagging and choking (blog, like glob,
like clog, like blob, like gag... you get the point).

so i have invented some words that sound beautiful to me and, with
that, can allow myself to launch a record of this travel:
ELE JOU
simply stands for elec-tronic jou-rnal.
say it with a slight french accent and i suspect
it will make your mouth feel as happy as it does mine.

welcome to my ELE JOU: MEXICO.

  1. Hi sis. I am a follower. Perhaps twice. More later. Love you so.

  2. Please allow me to weigh in your excellent alternative. I too believe that blog is such a poor choice which has gained unfortunate traction in our patois. Ele-Jou (or perhape ElJou, which in Arabic simply means "the air" is such a wonderful alternative. May I modify this for my own purposes, or are you wedded to the spelling? In any case, I look forward to hearing more of your adventures.

  3. Ele-jou. May I modify this to "el-jou"? It is the Arabic words for "the air", and a lovely alternative.

  4. I'm following another friend's trip through the Mediterranean. She ended up in Istanbul instead of Cairo. So much fun to travel vicariously with you. Love the red shoes.

  10. El-jou sounds lovely too - especially that it means The Air. the word AIR, when it is not used strictly for the breathing medium, seems to be quite plastic and useful. "putting on airs", "taking some air", a musical air, "up in the air" - AIR, it seems, ramifies rather endlessly...
